1.5 cups wholemeal/plain flour
1.5 cups self-rising flour
1/2 tsp salt
water
oil for deep frying |
- Sift flours into large mixing bowl and add salt. Add water gradually to make a soft dough. Knead well. Set aside, covered with a damp cloth for about 10 minutes.
- Divide dough into small balls. Roll out each ball on a floured surface.
- Heat oil until hot. Drop in poori one at a time. Cook until puffed up and golden brown. Drain poori completely at side of pan or place on paper towel.
- Serve piping hot with vegetable or meat curry.
